Local SEO services

Local SEO that gets you found nearby.

Local SEO helps customers near you find your business on Google and Maps. We set up the pieces that decide who shows up, keep them accurate and report back every month in plain English.

What is local SEO?

Local SEO is the part of SEO focused on people searching in or near a particular place, such as “plumber near me” or “hairdresser in Preston”. For those searches Google often shows a map with a short list of businesses, with the normal results underneath. Local SEO is the work of earning your place in both. Our guide to how local SEO works explains it step by step.

How does Google decide who to show?

Google says local results come down to three things: relevance, distance and prominence. Relevance is how well your Business Profile matches what someone searched for. Distance is how far you are from the searcher. Prominence is how well known you are, including how many websites link to you and how many reviews you have. Google also says there is no way to pay for a better local ranking, so be wary of anyone who says otherwise.

You cannot change distance. You can improve relevance and prominence, and that is what we work on.

What our local SEO service includes

  • Google Business Profile. For businesses that qualify, we help set up, tidy and maintain the profile in line with Google’s guidelines: your real name, the right categories, accurate hours, services and photos. Our setup checklist shows every step.
  • Service and area pages on your website. A clear page for each main service, and pages for the places you cover only where each one has something genuinely useful to say. We do not copy one page and swap the town name.
  • Reviews. A simple, rule-following way to ask happy customers for reviews and to reply to them. Google does not allow rewards for reviews, asking only happy customers or discouraging negative ones, so we never do that. See how to get more Google reviews.
  • Consistent details. Your name, address and phone number matched across your website, profile and listings.
  • Structured data. The code that describes your business to Google, added to your website. Google says it does not guarantee that any feature will appear, so we treat it as good housekeeping.
  • Monthly reports. What we did, how many people found and contacted you and what we are doing next, drawn from Google Search Console and your Business Profile. See what a good SEO report includes.

Who is local SEO for?

It suits businesses that win customers in particular places: trades such as plumbers, electricians and builders, salons, gyms, clinics, garages, shops and restaurants. Our trade guides cover the picture for 23 of them, and our local SEO checklist for trades is a good place to start.

One rule to know: Google only gives a Business Profile to businesses that have in-person contact with customers during stated hours, which includes service-area businesses that travel to customers. If you only work online with no in-person contact, you cannot have a profile, but local SEO through your website can still help.

How we work

  1. Free website check. We review your site’s speed, structure and current local visibility.
  2. Plan. We agree the searches that matter and what to fix first.
  3. Build and fix. We improve your profile, pages, details and reviews process.
  4. Report. Every month you get a plain-English update on what changed.

What to expect

Some fixes show quickly, such as correcting wrong opening hours. Climbing the rankings takes longer, and depends on how competitive your area is. Nobody can guarantee a number-one spot in a fixed number of weeks, and we do not promise one. Read how long SEO takes to work for a realistic picture.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between local SEO and SEO?

SEO helps you appear for searches anywhere. Local SEO helps you appear when someone nearby is looking for what you do, including in the map results. Most local businesses need both. See our SEO services for the wider work.

Do I need a website for local SEO?

Yes. Your Business Profile helps people find you, but your website is where you explain your services and turn visitors into enquiries. The two work best together.

Can you guarantee I will be in the map results?

No. Nobody can, and Google says there is no way to pay for a better local ranking. We improve the things Google says it looks at and report honestly on the results.

How many reviews do I need?

There is no magic number. A steady flow of genuine, recent reviews that you reply to looks more trustworthy than a burst followed by silence.

Do you work with businesses outside Lancashire?

Yes. We are an online agency based in Clitheroe, Lancashire, and we work with UK businesses everywhere.
