Websites & marketing for removals firms

There are 3,270 removal firms registered in the UK, and the number has risen 19.3% since 2021. Here is how they win customers online, and what a removals firm’s website needs to do.

Moving is stressful, and customers choose a removals firm on trust and clarity. They want to know what is included, how the quote is worked out, whether their belongings are insured and who will actually turn up on the day.

A removals website should make that easy: simple quotes, clear information on services and insurance, and proof from other customers that the day went smoothly.

The UK market for removal firms

The number grew 19.3% between 2021 and 2026, well ahead of the +0.8% for UK businesses overall, so more firms are competing for the same customers.

90% of them have fewer than 10 employees, 15% are sole proprietors and 81% are limited companies. Most are small operations, so a clear, quick website is a genuine way to stand out from competitors who have not looked after theirs. The ten areas with the most firms hold about 33% of the UK total.

What a removals firm’s website needs to do

  • Clear descriptions of your services, such as house moves, packing, storage and office moves
  • How quotes work, including whether you offer a home visit or a video survey
  • Information on insurance and what is covered, described accurately
  • The areas you cover, including long-distance moves if you do them
  • Photos of your team and vehicles, and reviews from customers
  • A quote form that asks for the addresses, size of the move and the date

Mistakes we see

  • No explanation of how quotes are calculated
  • Unclear information on insurance
  • Not saying where you work
  • No photos or faces, so the firm feels anonymous

How we would approach it

  1. SEO. People search for removals in their town, often weeks before a move.
  2. Bespoke web design. A simple quote form and clear trust information reduce the worry of choosing.
  3. Meta and Google ads. Search ads reach people who are actively moving and comparing quotes.

Questions from removal firms

What should a removals company's website include?

Your services, how quotes work, insurance information, the areas you cover, photos of your team, reviews and a simple quote form.

How do removals firms get more bookings online?

By being easy to find in local searches, making quotes simple to request and showing customers that moves with you go smoothly.

Should I show prices?

Even if you cannot give exact prices, explaining what affects the cost and how quotes are worked out builds trust and helps customers decide.

How many removal firms are there in the UK?

ONS counts 3,270 removal firms registered for VAT and/or PAYE in the UK for 2026. That figure excludes firms below the VAT threshold that are not registered for PAYE, so the real number is higher.
