Websites & marketing for roofers
There are 12,895 roofing firms registered in the UK, and the number has risen 28.8% since 2021. Here is how they win customers online, and what a roofer’s website needs to do.
Roofing work is often urgent, after a leak or storm damage, and customers are wary because they cannot see the roof for themselves. Many have heard stories of poor workmanship, so they look hard for signs that a firm is genuine.
That makes proof and transparency the heart of a roofer's website: real photos, clear information about who you are and plain answers about what the work involves.
The UK market for roofing firms
The number grew 28.8% between 2021 and 2026, well ahead of the +0.8% for UK businesses overall, so more firms are competing for the same customers.
95% of them have fewer than 10 employees, 20% are sole proprietors and 77% are limited companies. Most are small operations, so a clear, quick website is a genuine way to stand out from competitors who have not looked after theirs. The ten areas with the most firms hold about 18% of the UK total.

What a roofer’s website needs to do
- Photos taken at roof level that show real before-and-after work
- Clear company details, insurance information and any scheme memberships you really hold
- A page for each service (repairs, flat roofs, re-roofing, guttering and fascias)
- Honest information on guarantees: only state what you actually offer
- A phone number and quote form that are quick to use on a phone
- Reviews and, where customers agree, named local examples
Mistakes we see
- Hiding who you are or where you are based
- Stock images of roofs
- Promising guarantees or timescales you cannot keep
- A website that makes it hard to ask for an inspection or quote
How we would approach it
- Bespoke web design. Trust signals and real photos need to be front and centre.
- SEO. People search for a roofer plus their town, often after a problem appears.
- Meta and Google ads. Search ads can catch urgent repairs, and social ads can promote planned work such as re-roofing.

Questions from roofing firms
What should a roofer's website include?
Real photos of your work, who you are and where you are based, the services you offer, any guarantees you genuinely provide, reviews and an easy way to ask for a quote.
How can roofers build trust online?
By being open: show your company details and insurance, use your own photos, explain the work in plain English and collect genuine reviews.
Do roofers need pages for each town?
If you work across several areas, a useful page for each can help, as long as each says something real about the work you do there. Copying the same page with a different town name does not help.
How many roofing firms are there in the UK?
ONS counts 12,895 roofing firms registered for VAT and/or PAYE in the UK for 2026. That figure excludes firms below the VAT threshold that are not registered for PAYE, so the real number is higher.
Where are most roofing firms based?
By number of firms, the biggest concentrations are in London, County Durham and Leeds. Per 10,000 residents, Havant, Epping Forest and Broxbourne come out highest.
