Websites & marketing for scaffolders
There are 6,535 scaffolding firms registered in the UK, and the number has risen 7.0% since 2021. Here is how they win customers online, and what a scaffolder’s website needs to do.
Scaffolders often win work from other businesses: builders, roofers and developers who need dependable access quickly, as well as homeowners whose contractors ask them to arrange it. For many of those customers, safety and reliability decide the choice.
A scaffolder's website should make credentials and safety easy to see, explain the kinds of job you take on and make it quick to get a price.
The UK market for scaffolding firms
The number grew 7.0% between 2021 and 2026, well ahead of the +0.8% for UK businesses overall, so more firms are competing for the same customers.
90% of them have fewer than 10 employees, 12% are sole proprietors and 85% are limited companies. Most are small operations, so a clear, quick website is a genuine way to stand out from competitors who have not looked after theirs. The ten areas with the most firms hold about 21% of the UK total.

What a scaffolder’s website needs to do
- Safety and insurance information, and any qualifications or memberships you really hold
- A clear description of the work you do, such as domestic, commercial and access for roofing
- The areas you cover, and how quickly you can usually quote and erect
- Photos of real jobs, tidy and well-built
- A quote form that asks for the address, the type of job and the timescale
- Reviews from builders, roofers and homeowners
Mistakes we see
- Hiding insurance and safety information
- No description of the sort of jobs you take on
- A site that is hard to use on a phone from a site visit
- No clear way for trade customers to request a price
How we would approach it
- Bespoke web design. Credentials, job types and a fast quote request need to be obvious.
- SEO. Builders and homeowners search for scaffolding in their area.
- Meta and Google ads. Search ads can reach people who need scaffolding for a job that is about to start.
